For over two decades, Invision Services has enhanced and enriched the lives of visually impaired students and adults from Murphy to Morehead City in North Carolina and across the country.
In 1985 John Higgins, newly graduated from Western Michigan University with a master's degree in Blind Rehabilitation, was fortunate to became the first O&M Specialist hired by a North Carolina Public School system.
Inspired by two North Carolina educators who both put children's' needs first to create that first O&M Specialist position -- Gail Waters, the forward-thinking Teacher of the Visually Impaired, and Thelma Watkins, a hard-working public school administrator -- John saw the need for more accessible specialized VI education and rehabilitation services throughout the state and founded Invision in 1992.
